The King River Hall will come alive tomorrow with The Shantylillies hosting their first Shanty and Folk club event.
Albany’s only female shanty group, The Shantylillies, will welcome all community members to sing along at the family-friendly event.
The Shantylillies member Nicky Guretti said there would be plenty of activities for everyone on the night. “We want to keep the hall alive, so we thought we should use it for a music club,” she said.
“We know not everybody is into shanty music, so we thought we would make it into a folk and shanty club.
“The idea is for people to come along and they can sit down to hear people singing or get up and sing themselves — or sing together with us.
“Everyone can bring their own platter and their own drinks and have a great night.”
Tea and coffee will be supplied and soft drinks will be available for purchase.
The event will be held tomorrow.
Doors open at 6.30pm.
Tickets are $5 a person and $10 a family.
All money donated will be used to keep the King River Hall alive.
