Australian refugee footballer Hakeem al-Araibi has arrived in Melbourne after being released from a Thai prison. Al-Araibi spent two months behind bars in a Bangkok prison after being arrested during his honeymoon for the alleged vandalism of a police station in 2012. The footballer, who used to play for Bahrain’s national team, thanked his supporters when he landed in Melbourne on Tuesday afternoon, saying ‘it’s amazing to see how the people have supported me’.
