Greenbushes resident Danielle King awarded Manjimup TAFE Student of the Year Award

Greenbushes now has bragging rights after producing Manjimup TAFE’s top student and runner up best student in the South West.

Education Support student Danielle King has been crowned the South West TAFE Manjimup campus Student of the Year after completing multiple certificates in a 12-month period.

Ms King said the reassurance she was doing a good job was amazing and she was “shocked” at her nomination for the award.

“It was a massive shock and I couldn’t have done it without Caroline (Gledhill) teaching the course, otherwise I would have had to go to Bunbury and who knows what would have happened,” she said.

Also in the pool to be recognised as one of the top students in the South West, Ms King landed a runner-up position in the South West Student of the Year awards.

Lecturer and mentor Caroline Gledhill said Ms King’s full-time studies really paid off and resulted in a work placement position at a local school, which later led to a job.

“She got really fantastic feedback from the workplace and was able to transfer all her knowledge from her courses into workplace skills,” she said.

“I’m very, very pleased of all Danielle’s efforts in her studies and she has come out the other end and got employment, which is what we really love to see.”

Acting campus manager Dominica Daniels said students at Manjimup’s TAFE campus loved the way Ms Gledhill taught.

“I think from a manager’s point of view (Ms Gledhill’s) lecturing and being able to express her passion in what she teaches is an amazing thing,” she said.
