A Gosnells man has been charged over the theft of a police car on Tuesday.
The marked patrol car was stolen from Williamson Avenue about 8.15pm while officers were chasing a man suspected of committing a home burglary in the street.
The man was arrested in the backyard of a house on Hardey Road but when the officers returned to Williamson Avenue, the police car was gone.
CCTV showed the car being driven away with its lights flashing shortly before it crashed into a black Toyota Camry on Wright Street.
The driver ran off before police arrived.
Kensington Detectives today charged a 39-year-old with numerous offences, including stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated home burglary and breach of bail.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
