WA Police have charged a 23-year-old man from Kelmscott with gun and drug offences, after he allegedly sped through several suburbs in an attempt to evade the law.
Police say that about 12.30am on Friday morning, officers saw a vehicle in Lynwood that was being sought in relation to a series of incidents.
They tried to stop it but, according to police, the driver put the foot down and officers lost sight of the car.
A short time later officers from Gosnells Police saw the car and Police Air Wing was called in to monitor it.
The vehicle was watched by the police helicopter crew as it drove through several suburbs to Martin, where it was abandoned on Mills Road East.
The driver was arrested a short time later, after attempting to flee the scene on foot.
Inquiries are ongoing in relation to a second person who was believed to have been in the car during the night.
Police allege that a search of the car uncovered a firearm.
The man’s charges include possessing a firearm with circumstances of aggravation, possessing methylamphetamine, using an unlicensed vehicle and having no authority to drive.
He was due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Friday.
