Forget the birdies… worry about the incoming horses.
A golfer in New Zealand has been captured a remarkable position on a racetrack with horses bearing down on him in a head-scratching moment.
It happened at Auckland’s Ellerslie Racecourse, which houses a golf driving range and pitch-and-putt course in the middle of the track.
The wayward golfer clearly strayed from the fairway, then failed to realise the Great Northern Steeplechase race was in progress, leading to the amazing snap from photographer Kenton Wright.
Thankfully, New Zealand media reported there were no injuries in the incident – only some stunned jockeys.
“We were all yelling at him, he obviously was more interested in his ball than the race,” jockey Shaun Fannin told The New Zealand Herald.
“When he heard us and saw us coming he started pointing at his ball to show us what he was doing there.
“But we just wanted him to get the hell out of the way.”
And the race broadcaster didn’t hold back during his call of the run.
“There are some absolute idiots playing golf out on the course proper,” he said.
“Can you believe it? Absolute d—-heads.”
Auckland Racing Club bosses say no charges will be laid.
