Golden Police are asking for help in finding an 87-year-old man reported missing after crashing his son’s pickup truck into some rail cars just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

James Mitchell apparently walked away from the scene before police arrived. Search and rescue teams began working along 10th and Vasquez streets, then went north along Table Mountain Friday morning.

Golden Police along with the Golden, Fairmont and Pleasant View fire departments and Alpine Search and Rescue conducted the search but could not find Mitchell.

Police are asking the public to call 303-384-8045 if they have any information that could lead to Mitchell.

Mitchell is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes and thinning gray hair. He was last seen wearing a blue fleece vest, a solid black T-shirt, khaki cargo pants and black athletic shoes with Velcro closures. Mitchell possibly suffers from dementia and does not have any identification or a cellphone on him.
