Geraldton police have charged an 18-year-old man with a string of offences after he allegedly committed two home invasions in West End on the weekend.
Police say the man, accompanied by two juveniles aged 16 and 17, broke into a home on Sunday morning between 3-4am, waking the resident.
The group allegedly stole the homeowner’s car keys, with the victim chasing the teenagers down the street.
The teenagers are believed to have thrown the stolen car keys back to the victim during the chase.
Police were called to West End, where two other burglaries were reported on the evening.
Officers arrested the group a short time after and were taken to Geraldton Police Station.
The 18-year-old allegedly spat at a police officer in lock-up and was charged with assaulting a public officer, along with two counts of aggravated home burglary and one count of stealing.
He was remanded in custody.
The 17-year-old was charged with two home invasions and released on bail, while the 16-year-old was issued a juvenile caution for burglary and stealing.
Police say they could lay additional charges for a third burglary.
