The second kite surfer in under a week was rescued off Point Moore on Saturday by Marine Rescue Geraldton after a community member noticed the struggling surfer.
Marine Rescue Geraldton vice commander Damien Healy said a call came through around 5.30pm about a man struggling off the coast.
“The sun was setting so it was difficult for the volunteer crew to maintain sight of him,” he said.
“But he was picked up pretty quickly and was quite relieved.”
The stranded surfer had been attempting to swim back after his kite came down and he wasn’t able to get it back up.
Six days prior, on October 11, a different kite surfer was left stranded for two hours after losing his board.
Mr Healy said it was thanks to two quick thinking community members who called the volunteer organisation.
“People are better off calling us if they think something’s not right,” he said. We’d rather be safe than sorry.”
