The creators of Game of Thrones have released a teaser for the final season of the cult show and it has sent fans into meltdown. However, there’s not much to see.
HBO dropped the 39-second clip overnight and almost immediately people started speculating over what it all means despite it not showing any footage of the much-anticipated season eight.
Anyone who watches GoT has been patiently waiting for its return after last season’s dramatic finale when the Night King brought down a section of the Wall and the two main protagonists, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, hooked up – then we found out they might be related.
In this latest trailer, fans see the map of Westeros begin to freeze from the north. The ice-coloured smoke then moves over the wolf (which represents Winterfell) frozen solid, then a Targaryen dragon. The perspective then shifts and we see flames engulf the south. Most notably, the lion of Lannister burns up and eventually the ice and fire erupt in the middle of the table.
Naturally, fans were excited about what it could all possibly mean.
