This could be the last time you see Exmouth’s Jason Hibbert with his trademark beard.
He was set to shave it off last night after Froth Craft Brewery set out to raise $5000 for Movember. The Brewery and Mr Hibbert teamed up after he saw the company’s “Got Froth” social media campaign where local Exmouth celebrities wear a frothy moustache and pose for a photo.
Brewery owner Pete Firth said men’s health was close to Mr Hibbert’s heart so he reached out.
“So it’s a play on the really successful and famous Got Milk campaign in the 90s, with American celebrities; we’ve only got Froth celebrities, but they’re important to us nonetheless,” he said.
Mr Firth said they had placed 20 collection tins around town and had a fundraising page set up.
“He’s quite well known for his beard, so I think a lot of people would like to see what he’s actually hiding under there,” he said.
Mr Firth said it was important people understood men’s health.
“We shouldn’t really be feeling any taboo towards all those things that can actually have pretty detrimental health effects,” he said.
“Breaking down those barriers about men talking about the different health issues, I think mental health is the next step for everyone to be open to talk about and then obviously help each other with.”
