Fremantle’s Darcy Tucker, Will Brodie likely to be fit for Eagles scratch match

The Fremantle Dockers believe midfield pair Darcy Tucker and Will Brodie will be fit and available for selection in the club’s first pre-season hit out against West Coast later this month after hiccups in recent days.

Tucker came out of Saturday morning’s match simulation at Cockburn at half time, after playing a starring role alongside David Mundy.

He was later seen with ice on his hamstring.

Tucker, who has played 94 games for the Dockers in six seasons since his 2016 debut, has a history of hamstring injuries with a serious tear restricting him to just eight games in 2020.

The 25-year-old has been one of the stand out trainers at the Dockers this summer and appeared set for an inside/outside role in the midfield.

Brodie, who was traded by Gold Coast in an exchange for later round picks and pick 19, has also impressed through the summer but was absent from Saturday’s match simulation because of “soreness”.

He had been the stand out midfield performer in match simulation the previous week, booting two goals from the midfield and winning a stack of contested possession around stoppages.

The club has indicated it expects both to be fit to play the Eagles in 11 days time.

The match will be played at Optus Stadium on February 25.
