Hayden Ballantyne’s brother and old enemy have partnered to deliver the small forward an incredible gift.
Ballantyne took to Instagram on his 32nd birthday to show off his present – a joint effort from his “little brother” and retired Geelong legend Matthew Scarlett.
On Tuesday Ballantyne revealed a framed Geelong jumper signed by Scarlett, complete with a personalised message which began: “Dear Hayden, below is my list of career accomplishments in order.”
Number one for the three-time premiership defender was “punching (Ballantyne) right on your chin”.
Scarlett infamously floored Ballantyne when Fremantle hosted the Cats in round one of the 2012 season.
It was one of many run-ins between the pair and earned Scarlett three weeks on the sideline.
So what followed his number one highlight?
“Two – Premierships (in) 2007, 2009, 2011,” Scarlett wrote.
“Three – Six All Australians.
“Four – AFL Hall of Fame inductee – 2018.
“Five – Inducted as legend at (Geelong).”
Scarlett rounded out the message with “Go Cats” but showed he had moved on from their previous run-ins by adding: “PS: Would have loved playing with you.”
More than 3900 people have ‘liked’ the post, which Ballantyne shared along with the caption: “Well my little brother did something for my birthday… cheers Scarlo.”
