Fremantle Dockers still have plenty of love for Ross Lyon, says Bradley Hill

Fremantle wingman Brad Hill says he has plenty of love for coach Ross Lyon, and reckons it’s the players who are to blame for the recent form slump.

The pressure is mounting on Lyon following four straight losses, with some fans calling for his axing.

Fremantle’s finals hopes will go on the line on Saturday night when they take on Sydney at Optus Stadium.

Hill, who joined Fremantle from Hawthorn at the end of 2016, hopes the team can notch a win to ease the pressure on Lyon.

“Ross as a coach, we love him,” Hill told Perth radio station 6PR.

“Even as a person I’m pretty close to him. Ross is great for us.

“It’s been the players (who are to blame). We’ve sort of been stuffing up on game day, and not (following) the game plan.

“That’s how come we’ve lost some close games as well.”

Hill’s future is also up in the air despite being contracted to Fremantle until the end of 2021.

The 26-year-old’s girlfriend is from Melbourne, and there’s talk Hill could seek a trade back to his former club Hawthorn.

The 143-game veteran is doing his best to ignore the rumours.

“I’ve played footy there (in Melbourne) for a long time and my girlfriend’s from there,” Hill said.

“But this year I’m just concentrating on playing good footy. My aim is to finish this year off strongly.”

Hill’s older brother Stephen has also been linked to a move away from Fremantle.

Stephen Hill comes out of contract at the end of this season, and Gold Coast are reportedly ready to make a big-money play.

Brad Hill said he wasn’t sure what his brother is planning.

“You know what Stephen’s like – he doesn’t say too much,” he said.

“He’s not contracted at the end of the year, so I’m not too sure.”
