Fremantle’s Victorian road trip has been extended by a week, with the Dockers’ round two fixture against Greater Western Sydney shifted east.
The Dockers were due to open their season with home games against Adelaide and the Giants before heading on an extended road trip.
But border complexities have forced the scheduled round two fixture to be relocated to Victoria University Whitten Oval.
The date and time for the match remain unchanged with the game still to kick off at 2:10pm WST on Sunday January 16.
The AFL had previously expressed confidence early matches in Perth would be able to go ahead, with incoming clubs to undergo a period of quarantine.
But with the Giants playing Gold Coast in Mackay on Sunday of round one, quarantine proved a challenge.
AFL competition manager Laura Kane said the league would continue to take the advice of government and health officials.
“The health and safety of everyone in the game and the wider community remains the priority as we continue to navigate the pandemic,” Ms Kane said.
“Our competition will continue to remain adaptable as we navigate the 2022 NAB AFLW Premiership Season and the AFL thanks all involved clubs, players, AFLPA, venues, governments, and supporters for their understanding.
“We also thank the GWS Giants for their adaptability and understanding, as well as the Western Bulldogs for being so accommodating and providing a neutral venue for the round two match to take place.”
