Residents on a Katanning street got away with only slightly burned fences after a burnoff went out of control.
Firefighters were called to Cullen Street just after 11.30am on Friday after a permitted burn on Piesse Street spread to a nearby vacant property.
Katanning Volunteer Fire and Rescue service members arrived shortly afterwards and extinguished the blaze.
The fire spanned three vacant properties on Cullen Street and one on Piesse Street.
But there was no major damage done to occupied properties.
The Shire’s restricted burning period remains in place until April 30.
