Federal election 2022: Anthony Albanese slams journalists for their ‘nonsense’ during campaign

Anthony Albanese says there has been some “nonsense” from journalists during the Federal election campaign which is putting people off politics.

The Labor Leader made the comments in an interview with the ABC on Friday night when host Leigh Sales pursued him on whether he had been consistent regarding a wage rise or not.

“During this campaign, with respect, some of the nonsense that’s gone on from some of the journalists. Thinking that the campaign was about them and gotcha moments is one of the things that puts people off politics,” he said.

Referring to an error he made on day one of the campaign where he could not name the unemployment figure, Mr Albanese said there had been a “memory lapse” which he owned up to.
