A heartbroken father whose partner and two young children died in a fiery smash outside the Royal Women’s Hospital last week has “no words” to describe his pain.
Koby Poole, 35, her eight-year-old daughter Chloe and 20-month-old son Harrison died at the scene on Flemington Road in Parkville on Friday after the vehicle they were travelling in struck a pole and burst into flames.
Police said the Ford Territory was travelling southbound along Flemington Road, approaching Grattan St, when it struck the kerb and smashed into a pole about 9.50am on August 20.
Craig, who did not wish to disclose his surname, issued a statement on Monday thanking the community for their support.
“I’d like to thank the community for their love and support at this difficult time following the loss of my partner Koby and my beautiful children Chloe (8) and Harrison (20 months),” he wrote.
“I have no words to describe how we’re all feeling. This tragedy will take some time to process and we ask for some privacy at this time.”
The exact cause of the crash was yet to be determined. Police prepared a report for the Coroner.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.
