Fallen Douglas County Deputy Zackari Parrish funeral and motorcade schedule

Funeral services for fallen Douglas County deputy Zackari Parrish will be held Friday at a church in Highlands Ranch.

Parrish, 29, was killed in a New Year’s Eve ambush while responding to a domestic disturbance. Three other Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies and a Castle Rock Police officer were wounded in the shooting.

Parrish is survived by his wife and two daughters. He had been working as a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy for seven months. He previously worked for more than two years as a Castle Rock Police officer.

A law enforcement motorcade will follow the family procession to the church prior to the 11 a.m. service. The motorcade will depart at 8:45 a.m., entering Interstate 25 at Plum Creek Parkway, heading north and taking the Lincoln Avenue exit. It will travel west as Lincoln Avenue becomes South University Boulevard, turning south onto East Wildcat Reserve Parkway. Then it will proceed west on Grace Boulevard until it reaches Cherry Hills Community Church at 3900 Grace Blvd. in Highlands Ranch.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office asks those wanting to watch the motorcade to use the sidewalks along Lincoln Avenue and South University Boulevard. Parking is not allowed along I-25.
