Formula One legend Sir Frank Williams has been admitted to a hospital where he is currently in stable condition, the Williams family says.
A statement from his family said his “medical condition is a private matter and therefore the family will not be releasing any further details at this time”.
Since a car accident in 1986 Sir Frank Williams has used a wheelchair.
Until 2012 he was part of the board of Williams F1 team, which he founded in 1977.
In September the Williams family ended an era by leaving the team as they were sold to US investment group Dorilton Capital in August.
In the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, Williams’ driver George Russell wore a helmet celebrating the family’s journey in Formula One.
