Spotlight on Bogdan Bogdanovic: Coming down the stretch of another lost season in Sacramento, Bogdanovic will get ample playing time. The rookie guard from Serbia who already boasts an impressive overseas career is averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game, including a 10-assist effort in Friday’s win over Orlando. He was the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge at last month’s All-Star Weekend. Nuggets standout big man Nikola Jokic calls Bogdanovic his best friend in the NBA.
Kings: They are 3-7 in their last 10 games, but won 94-88 Friday against fellow bottom-dweller Orlando. Sacramento is in full “tanking” mode, recently sitting leading scorer Zach Randolph and fellow veteran Vince Carter. … Sacramento is 1-2 against the Nuggets this season. They lost 96-79 in Denver in the second game of the regular season and 114-98 on Nov. 20 in a game in which Denver coach Michael Malone was suspended, before winning 106-98 on Jan. 6. … The Kings entered Saturday ranked 29th in the NBA in both offensive efficiency (101.4 points per 100 possessions) and defensive efficiency (109.8 points allowed per 100 possessions). … Promising youngsters De’Aaron Fox and Willie Cauley-Stein have been out recently with back injuries, while Skal Labissiere has already been ruled out Sunday with a bruised hip.
Nuggets: Since three consecutive single-digit scoring outputs — and getting benched for the entire fourth quarter of a Tuesday’s stunning loss at Dallas — Nikola Jokic is averaging 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and six assists over his last two games, as coach Michael Malone as reiterated that Jokic is the focal point of Denver’s offense. … Starting small forward Wilson Chandler, who missed Friday’s win over the Lakers with right hip soreness, is officially listed as probable to play Sunday.
