Employment jumps by 366,100 in November

LABOUR FORCE DATA FOR NOVEMBER:

* Unemployment rate – 4.6 per cent versus 5.2 per cent in October

* Underemployment rate (employed people seeking additional work) – 7.5 per cent versus 9.5 per cent

* Employment up 366,100

* Full-time positions up 128,300

* Part-time employment up 237,800

* Participation rate (people working or looking for work): 66.1 per cent versus 64.7 per cent

* Monthly hours worked in all jobs up 4.5 per cent or 77 million hours

STATE UNEMPLOYMENT RATES:

NSW – 4.6 per cent in October versus 5.4 per cent in October

VIC – 4.7 per cent versus 5.6 per cent

QLD – 4.8 per cent versus 5.2 per cent

SA – 4.6 per cent versus 5.3 per cent

WA – 3.8 per cent versus 3.9 per cent

TAS – 5.1 per cent versus 5.1 per cent

NT – 4.4 per cent versus 3.9 per cent

ACT – 3.8 per cent versus 6.6 per cent
