The Looma Eagles have continued to prove themselves worthy finals contenders with a 11.12 (78) to 6.6 (42) victory over the Peninsula Bombers at Haynes Oval last Saturday.
With just one more round until the finals series of WKFL 2018, the Eagles bounced back from their previous loss to Cable Beach.
The Bombers were off to a great start as they looked to shut down the Eagles early in the contest.
The Bombers even held an early lead until the Eagles shook off the first-quarter jitters and took over to lead by nine points at quarter-time.
Both teams looked fearless on the field as they threw themselves into every contest, determined to contribute to a potential win.
In an action-packed second quarter, the Eagles held on to their lead at half-time.
After the main break, the Eagles were eager to extend their lead even further, although goal-kicking accuracy would soon come into question because of the number of behinds scored. The ball was spending a lot of time in Looma’s forward 50 as the Bombers began to fade.
Despite late efforts from the Bombers to catch up, the Eagles took home the 36-point victory.
The Eagles will look to cement a spot in the finals when they go up against Towns on Saturday, while the Bombers will cap off their season with a match against the Derby Tigers.
