Donald Glover is rumoured to be taking part in an upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series
The actor played Lando Calrissian in the prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story.
On a recent episode of the Kessel Run Transmissions YouTube show, host Corey Van Dyke revealed that Glover would return to the role in an upcoming series for the platform.
“So, we’ve heard that Donald Glover is coming back as Lando in his own series,” Van Dyke said.
It hasn’t been confirmed but Kessel Run reported that Glover was in talks or had already signed a deal with the streaming service.
Alden Ehrenreich who also starred in Solo has previously said that a follow up series could be on the horizon.
Solo was produced by George Lucas’ Lucasfilm and while it wasn’t a box office success, it proved to be popular on Netflix and then moved across to Disney+, with Glover widely regarded as the highlight of the film.
While fans would love to see him reprise in the role again, sources say it seems unlikely as Glover is also tied up in other creative projects namely as his rapper alter ego Childish Gambino and he also stars, writes and directs his FX series Atlanta.
Any details on the upcoming series are speculation at this stage, it hasn’t stopped people from sharing the news on Twitter.
Solo had a notoriously difficult production with Disney moving Glover’s Atlanta writing staff to London so they could work on the new season while Glover was filming Solo.
If the series went ahead it would likely star Glover as Lando.
Disney+ is currently working of three more live action series following on from The Mandalorian.
Ewan McGregor is expected to return in an Obi-Wan spin off, another based on Rogue One’s Cassian Andor and the third is a mysterious series from the co-creator of Russian Doll Leslye Headland.
