Doctor and former Islamic State captive claim Nobel Peace Prize

Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad have been jointly awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize in Norway. The Congolese doctor and Yazidi former captive of the Islamic State were selected for their tireless efforts to highlight and eradicate sexual violence as a weapon of war. The Norwegian Nobel Committee says the two ‘both put their own personal security at risk by courageously combating war crimes and securing justice for victims.’
