Did Fremantle’s Adam Cerra snap the Goal of the Year against Melbourne?

Did Fremantle young gun Adam Cerra kick the goal of 2020?

The 20-year-old midfielder not only held his composure in the sodden conditions in Cairns late in the win over Melbourne, but snapped arguably the best six-pointer of the year.

Cerra got on the end of a quick handball from veteran David Mundy deep in the right forward pocket before taking a few steps and snapping from the boundary to kick the Dockers’ fifth goal with less 10 minutes to go in the game.

Hard against the line, Cerra kept the ball low in the tough conditions as it bent around a corner and through the big sticks to give the Dockers a vital 22-point lead.

“Where did that come from?” former Hawthorn champion Jason Dunstall said in amazement on commentary.

It capped off a big night for Cerra, who had a game-high 30 disposals in a great all-round performance to help the Dockers to their sixth win of the year.
