An experienced free diver has been missing for more than 48 hours off the coast of Western Australia but police are not giving up hope of finding him.
A marine search operation is underway in the Lancelin area, north of Perth, to find 49-year-old Matthew Phillips.
He was last seen in the Perth suburb of Sorrento about 10am on Monday, while his vehicle was later found at Grace Darling Park in Lancelin.
The search includes the water police, police air wing, local officers, an Australian Maritime Safety Authority jet, the Department of Fisheries and volunteer marine vessels.
“Matthew is a keen and experienced free diver and kite surfer,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.
He is described as being about 182cm tall, bald with blue eyes.
Anyone with information is urged to call police immediately on 131 444.
