Perth Glory are on the hunt for a new defender after Japanese international Kosuke Ota and the A-League club parted ways.
The final year of Ota’s contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Ota, 34, missed half of last season’s wooden spoon campaign with injury and his loss comes as Glory prepare for their long pre-season.
But his departure opens up an overseas payer spot for coach Ruben Kadkovich who is looking to put his own mark on a new-look squad.
Ota joined Glory ahead of the 2020/21 season and made 30 A-League appearances, 11 last year.
Glory chief executive Tony Pignata said: “On behalf of the club I would like to thank Kosuke for his service.
“We wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
Glory, who have made a swathe of new signings and re-signings in recent weeks said further squad announcements will be made shortly.
