Denmark RSL set to host Anzac Day commemorations with special performance by Australian Army Band Perth

The Denmark RSL is set to host their traditional Anzac Day commemorations after a special performance by the Australian Army Band on Saturday.

The Australian Army Band Perth will put on a free concert at Berridge Park from 2pm on Saturday before they head to Albany to perform on Anzac Day.

On Anzac Day, the Denmark RSL will host a dawn service starting at 5.45am at the Denmark War Memorial where sub-branch president Horrie Wallis will give an address.

Volunteers will put on a gunfire breakfast at the RSL Hall at 6.30am.

The main Anzac Day commemorative service will start at 10.35am with a parade leaving from the Denmark RSL Hall.

Mr Wallis will welcome the crowd and Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie will give the address.

Community members are encouraged to lay a wreath while the song Ukrainian Lullaby plays in the background.

The Last Post will be performed by Denmark Senior High School Year 9 student Ali Judd.

Denmark RSL secretary Mark Davies said Anzac Day was an important day for veterans and the broader community.

“It’s important because it helps them to remember what others before us have done for us — to remember the sacrifices that they made,” he said.
