Cranbrook show to be a celebration of quirkiness

There aren’t many places you can go to see a cooking competition, a petting zoo and vintage machinery all at the one venue.

The Cranbrook Show promises to bring all this to the table for its 22nd annual event this month.

The quirky events don’t stop there and the day is growing each year, drawing more people from surrounding towns to see what all the fuss is about.

Organiser Bernie Climie said that in a small community, joyous events like the Cranbrook Show could make a town feel united.

“Each year it has grown but it still has that nice feeling of a small-country-town show,” she said.

“It makes everyone proud of their own town and what we have on offer.”

Stallholders from around the region will exhibit products.

The dash for cash and tug of war will be highlights for showgoers.

Children are welcome with a climbing wall, bouncy castles, reptiles, petting animals and pony rides scheduled for this year.

The day will wind down with fish and chips at the Cranbrook Sporting Club and live entertainment from local musicians.

The Cranbrook Show takes place at Frederick Square on March 30.

Entry is free.
