Coorow Latham claim hockey triumph as Cervantes denied finals sweep by Jurien Bay in netball

While the footy took centre stage across the Mid West the other winter sports across also finished its season with some enthralling grand finals.

In the North Midlands league, Coorow Latham won the senior hockey title in a thrilling match as the Magpies prevailed 1-0 against Three Springs.

The sides could not be split in a very tight game across the first three quarters in an outstanding display of defence from both sides.

With the game looking like it was going to extra time Nichole Burley slotted one through to give Coorow the lead as the minor premiers took home the flag.

Shayne Wass was named best and fairest.

Coorow had less luck in the junior final as Mingenew battled back to defeat them 2-1.

Harper Wass gave Coorow the lead early in the second quarter but Zac Cosgrove equalised in the third as the game went to extra time.

Jedd Adams scored the winner for Mingenew as Cosgrove took home best-and-fairest honours.

In the Central Midlands, Coastal League Dandaragan won a thrilling contest against Jurien Bay 4-3.

Alice Lydiate did all she could in a best-on-ground performance including two goals along with a single for Rachel Marsden, but it was not enough for Jurien bay as a Leonie Ellis double along with singles to Hayley Curtain and Kristy Pearce broke their hearts.

In the senior netball final, Cervantes was denied a perfect Saturday as Jurien Bay won a tight contest 38-33. Millie Park took home MVP honours, however, they got revenge in the reserves winning by one goal 39-38 against the Bulldogs with Tylah McCoy the MVP.
