Connor Blakely will make his long-awaited return to AFL ranks for Fremantle’s clash against Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
The big-bodied midfielder hasn’t played for the Dockers this year due to a long-term hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old proved his fitness with a strong fortnight in the WAFL for Peel Thunder but was surprisingly overlooked for Fremantle’s loss to Richmond at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
Defender Taylin Duman has finally won his spot back after three weeks on the outer thanks to a one-match suspension and Ryan Nyhuis’ brilliant form.
Nyhuis has been dropped, despite keeping Tigers small forward Jack Higgins goalless in Sunday’s loss to the Tigers.
Travis Colyer won’t get the chance to face his former side this weekend after he was also omitted.
Essendon have made five changes after a controversial defeat to Sydney, with star forward Joe Daniher headlining the inclusions.
Mark Baguley, Josh Begley, Kyle Langford and Ben McNiece are also back, at the expense of Brayden Ham, Zac Clarke, David Myers (omitted) and injured pair Devon Smith and Orazio Fantasia.
