Cleo Smith search: Police return to missing Cleo’s house to question neighbour

Police have returned to the neighbourhood of suspected abduction victim Cleo Smith.

Forensics officers spent Saturday at the suburban home Cleo shared with her mother, step-father and baby sister, as they investigated the possibility the person who stole the little girl from her family’s tent had stalked her in the days or weeks prior.

They returned on Sunday to speak with a neighbour, but were not searching or examining the Smith family home.

The South Carnarvon property was a hub of activity on Saturday as forensic officers scoured the home for anything which could lead to a breakthrough in the case.

Detectives scoped the perimeter of the house and dusted for finger prints in the hopes of finding something that could lead to a breakthrough in the mysterious case.

Between 10 and 20 registered sex offenders live in the Carnarvon area, but police have not revealed if they have any suspects.

Police said it was usual practice in cases like these to examine all possible avenues.

Police have also launched a fresh appeal for any dashcam or CCTV footage recorded last weekend within 1000km of Blowholes camp site but only as far south as Lancelin.

West Australian authorities have offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Cleo’s return

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 131 444.
