CityPulse rates Bayswater as one of Perth’s fun suburbs

It might surprise you to learn that, by the numbers, Bayswater is one of Perth’s best suburbs for fun and physical activity.

It makes sense to Jayne Jagger and Sarah Sorgiovanni.

The young mothers met at F45 Training in Bayswater where they work out almost every morning.

There is a wide range of gyms in the area but F45 — which stands for functional 45 minutes — gives them the structured exercise they want.

They are spoilt for green spaces, playgrounds and other recreational facilities — and the train line puts them within 15 minutes of the CBD.

How does your suburb compare?

“I have to be around greenery because I grew up in the Hills,” Ms Jagger said.

“It’s very important to us to bring kids up around that, just to let them have that bit of freedom and fresh air.

“Bayswater’s got a beautiful community vibe and I think all of that plays a big part because it gets people out of their homes.

“When we did have our dog we’d go down to Ashfield Flats and everyone would say hello to each other. We’ve spoken about how that doesn’t happen in other places.”

Both families love being close to the river — and the sprawling Riverside Gardens.

“All along the river is beautiful,” Ms Sorgiovanni said.

“Riverside Gardens is huge and it’s a good one for us because it has an enclosed playground. There’s a little coffee van down there as well so that’s the jackpot for mum.

“My partner is very much into fishing and boating so it was a bit of a prerequisite to be close to a boat ramp.”
