Chef Nobu Matsuhisa does not do breakfast. Until now.
The international chef and co-owner, with actor Robert de Niro, of the 36 restaurant Nobu global hospitality empire is bringing breakfast to Perth.
The unique, one-off event — and a first for Nobu — is presented by The West Australian Good Food Guide and Crown Perth and is one of the culinary events in a weekend of unique foodie celebrations and dinners in the lead-up to The West Australian Good Food Guide awards night on October 29.
“It’s quite incredible, actually,” Crown Perth’s general manager, food and beverage Chris Harris said.
“It’s not just a breakfast based on Nobu’s usual menu. Nobu’s chefs have devised an entirely new set of dishes for this event.”

Dishes include slow-cooked pork belly toban with Kurubota sausage, onsen egg and onion jam and French toast with strawberry maple bacon crumble, matcha anglaise and yuzu cream.
Nobu chief executive Leif Huru said creating a once-off Nobu breakfast was a challenge.
“Staying true to the Nobu ethos while creating a new range of dishes for breakfast was difficult and fun,” he said.
“I think people will be genuinely excited at the food, too.”
The West Australian Good Food Weekend at Crown begins on Friday, October 26, with a Flavour Odyssey lunch at Bistro Guillaume hosted by Guillaume Brahimi and The West Australian Good Food Guide’s reigning Sommelier Of The Year Emma Farrelly.
It concludes with a wine and cheese masterclass at Rockpool Bar and Grill.
The event will be hosted by head sommelier Andrew Symes and teams the finest cheeses from around the world with selected wine flights.
The awards are the Perth hospitality community’s annual recognition of excellence with the announcement of the Good Food Guide Top 50 list.
