The inaugural Geographe Surf Life Saving Carnival was held in Busselton on November 18.

While conditions were not perfect, that did not stop more 300 children, and some adults, from the Busselton Surf Life Saving and Smith’s Beach Surf Life Saving clubs from turning out for a morning of fun and friendly competition.

The beach was a sea of coloured caps as children and adults took part in swimming and board races, beach flags and beach sprints, as well as various relays.

The clubs extended a big thank you to everyone who helped get the carnival off the ground, and to all the parents who provided water safety and helped with marshalling and officiating on the day.

The event marked the start of many interclub events for Busselton.
