Darcy Cameron’s first season at Collingwood came to an end on Saturday night as his team suffered a heavy semifinal defeat at the hands of Geelong at the Gabba.
Cameron, from North Albany, has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Magpies after only managing one senior game in his three years at Sydney. The 205cm ruckman finished with 16 hit-outs, five disposals and one mark as the Magpies were thumped by 68 points and eliminated from the premiership race.
Cameron was one of the stars in the Magpies’ upset win over West Coast a week ago and the Great Southern talent featured in 10 games for his new club in 2020.
His year included an impressive match against Adelaide in round 11, gathering 15 possessions, two goals and nine marks.
The 25-year-old is contracted to the Magpies next season.
Former Railways midfielder Jordan Clark was not able to force his way into the Cats’ winning semifinal team.
Clark has played just three games this season and injured his shoulder in round seven.
He got back into the team in round 13 but has not been able to break into the Cats side since. Katanning-born Shai Bolton was electric for Richmond in their semifinal win over St Kilda last Friday night.
Bolton kicked three goals from 11 touches and was a big part of the Tigers’ 31-point win.
Pingaring product Liam Baker’s terrific season continued, with the defender racking up 19 disposals, six marks and six intercepts in a highly influential display.
