Cameras mounted on bikes capture numerous encounters between cyclists and kangaroos across Perth

We all know of the battle for the roads that can be waged between cyclists and drivers, but who knew cyclists vs kangaroos was also an issue?

Videos released by Cycliq, a Perth-based company which makes cameras and safety lights for bicycles, have shown a number of incidents where the native animals have come a bit close for comfort.

In most circumstances, the skippy harmlessly crosses the road or even hops along with the cyclist.

But they can also be dangerous.

In two of the clips, kangaroos can be seen pelting across the road and cleaning up riders.

Forty year old Neale Williams was one of the cyclists who was hit while training in the Perth Hills.

“I saw it coming but didn’t think it was going to hit me – it all happened so fast,” Mr Williams told The West earlier in the week.

“I am more careful now and use my brakes a bit more riding downhill.”

In another clip, a roo jumps into the air and hits an unwitting cyclist in the face, who manages to keep their composure and stay upright.
