Defenseman Cal Foote — son of former Colorado Avalanche star Adam Foote — made a highlight-reel save for Team Canada on Tuesday.
In the third period, Foote dove behind Canadian goaltender Carter Hart to slap away the puck as it touched the goal line. The save helped give Canada a 4-2 win over Finland.
“I wasn’t sure I had it. The puck was on its side,” Foote said to The Associated Press. “But looking back at the replay, it was close but I was pretty sure I got it.”
Foote, a product of the Littleton Hawks (Double-A) and Colorado Thunderbirds (Triple-A), was drafted with the 14th overall pick in the 2017 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
