Young people in the South West will be flocking to Koombana Bay this weekend for Bunbury’s annual youth celebration.
Usually held during Youth Week, the popular festival was postponed due to COVID-19 — but now it’s back with a twist.
This year’s theme is “wave” to coincide with the new location and celebrate the highly anticipated youth precinct.
Shift by the Bay will be delivered in partnership with the Youth Advisory Council and is open to all the community.
The free event will run from 3pm until sunset and will be held in collaboration with the Dinner at Dusk food truck festival.
Youth Mayor Bella Burgemeister said the festival was an important annual event for young people in Bunbury.
This event is a great way for the City’s young people to connect and have some fun, especially given the tough year we have all had.
“Everyone is welcome at the festival and we’re so grateful for all the support from the local businesses that are getting involved,” Bella said.
Participants will be able to engage in a range of activities including beach volleyball, giant Jenga and test out the virtual reality station, which will give participants a look into concepts of the youth precinct.
The Southern Ports Activity Zone will feature mini golf, a mechanical surfboard and a Freerun X5 performance.
