Brisbane Lions challenge AFLW ban to Svarc

The Brisbane Lions will challenge a one-match ban handed down to speedster Ruby Svarc in a bid to have her available for their AFLW preliminary final.

Svarc was cited for engaging in rough conduct against Collingwood’s Jaimee Lambert during the first quarter of Sunday’s 50-point qualifying final win at the Gabba.

The match review officer assessed the incident as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

The tribunal will sit on Tuesday night with the Lions to face off against Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday as they attempt to secure a spot in a consecutive grand final.

Collingwood will also try to have Sarah Rowe’s one-game suspension for rough conduct against the Lions’ Jade Ellenger overturned.
