Boxing Day boat party host slapped with a $5000 fine for letting revellers flout COVID-19 rules

A 42-year-old Yokine man who hosted a Boxing Day boat party has been fined for breaching COVID-19 restrictions.

The party, which was advertised as a ticketed event, took place on a chartered boat that departed the Barrack Street Jetty in Perth at 6.20pm.

A social media video of the event showed people, who appeared not to be wearing masks, packed on the boat, dancing and drinking alcohol.

Police say the man made a full admission after they obtained and questioned him over the video.

He was fined $5000 for failing to comply with a direction.
