Big quake strikes Macquarie Island region

An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 has struck the Macquarie Island region in the southern Pacific Ocean, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) says.

Thursday’s quake was at a depth of 29.3km, USGS said.

The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the quake.
