Big Bash League: Colin Munro breaks Perth Scorchers batting record in massive win over Adelaide

A record-breaking knock from Colin Munro has propelled Perth to a 49-run win against a sub-par Adelaide Strikers behind closed doors at Sydney Showground.

The New Zealand import hit the highest ever score by a Scorcher, riding his luck to belt an unbeaten 114 off 73 balls and beat Craig Simmons’ 112 set more than seven years ago.

The Scorchers’ 1-195 was the team’s best score outside of WA, beating the 5-193 against Sydney Sixers in 2014, with Adelaide rolled for 146 in the 18th over in reply.

Munro put on 132 in 93 balls, the fourth-highest partnership in Scorchers history, alongside fellow opener Cam Bancroft (45 off 37) to put their side in the box seat for back-to-back wins to start the tournament.
