Brisbane’s Ben Cutting was left nursing a nasty cut after a failed catch attempt hit him in the face during his side’s BBL clash against the Melbourne Renegades.
The Heat all-rounder settled under a skied ball from Marcus Harris, and appeared set to remove the Australian opener for duck after making good position.
But the ball went straight through Cutting’s hands and hit him square in the face, with the veteran unable to complete the juggling attempt at ground level.
“He dropped it, it hit his head, it bounced on his chest, and then he picked it up to say ‘I’ve still got it’, Seven commentator Phil Tufnell said.
“But for me, no (it’s not out).”
The third umpire looked at the vision and agreed, giving Harris a life before he went on to make 28.
Cutting was escorted from the field to get cleaned up after the mishap, which left him bloodied.
