A young driver is lucky to be alive after allegedly ploughing his vehicle through a fence, a wall, a parked car and a gas utility box in Bassendean late on Tuesday night.
The 19-year-old Woodbridge man has been accused of driving with an alcohol level in excess of 0.08 after crashing his Ford Territory around 10.30pm.
It is understood he just missed hitting an apartment block and duplex at the intersection of Broadway and Ivanhoe Street, leaving behind a path of destruction.
Damage to the gas supply boxes caused a leak in the street, with 7NEWS reporting it could be days before it is fixed, leaving residents without gas and hot water.
The driver was not injured in the crash.
