Augusta-Margaret River cops report quiet Easter long weekend break

Local police have reported a generally safe and quiet Easter long weekend, despite a big influx of visitors.

Augusta and Margaret River police were active with random breath tests during the festivities, with none recorded during a blitz on the Blackwood River foreshore and a small number of charges from officers in Margaret River.

Sergeant Simone Taplin said Margaret River police were “pretty impressed”.

“(There was) some drunken behaviour at the licensed premises which were stamped out immediately,” Sgt Taplin said.

“Roadwise, we issued a number of infringements, however were overall happy with driver behaviour with only a small number of drink drivers.”
