Atthowe bags 12 goals in Roos’ big GFL colts victory over Eagles

Jaxon Atthowe booted 12 goals to highlight Kalgoorlie’s big win over Kambalda last weekend, 29.11 (185) to 5.0 (30), in the Goldfields Football League’s colts division.

With Atthowe and Mekhi Bean (seven goals) on song up forward, the Roos piled on seven first-quarter goals.

Kambalda failed to score to the first break and were powerless to stop Kalgoorlie, who outscored them 14 goals to two by half-time.

The black-and-whites added 15 goals in the second half, but Kambalda never gave up the fight and kicked three third-quarter goals.

In the other match, Boulder held off a gallant Railways by 16 points, 9.13 (67) to 7.9 (51), on Jamie Bratton’s best-on-ground effort and two goals each to Blake Todd and Charlie Dickinson.

Railways trailed by 19 points at quarter-time, but edged ahead by three points at the main break on the back of a three-goal second term.

Boulder, however, were equal to the task and produced a five-goal second half.

Jayden Keneally was the Panthers’ best player and, alongside Jordan Linto, booted two goals.

Boulder leads the standings with four wins.

In the reserves, Glen Gascoyne kicked seven goals in Kalgoorlie’s win over Kambalda, 16.11 (107) to 4.3 (27).

Ricky Dawes booted five goals as Boulder easily beat Railways 9.8 (62) to 2.12 (24).
