A man who allegedly attacked Arvada officers and a police dog was shot dead overnight.
Officers responding to a call of a suspicious person in the 6900 block of West 84th Way called for backup when they discovered the suspect was wanted on a felony warrant and was under investigation for violating a restraining order.
A K9 unit was sent to the scene, where police found the suspect in an enclosed area, Arvada Police spokeswoman Jill McGranahan said in a news release.
Officers told the suspect several times to drop the knife he was holding. When he advanced on the officers and police dog with the knife, he was shot. He died at the scene.
The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident, McGranahan said.
The officers have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation. No further information was immediately available.
