Firefighters called to a house fire in Armadale have discovered a dead body inside the home.
Five fire and emergency crews rushed out to the single-storey property on Jannali Way just before 7.30am today, after neighbours reported seeing smoke coming from the house’s roof.
The blaze was extinguished by 8.10am, after which crews found the man’s body inside.
Homicide squad detectives are now investigating the death.
A WA Police spokesman said in a statement that a man in his 30s, who was known to the victim, was assisting offices with their enquiries.
“About 7.40am the Department of Fire and Emergency Services advised WA Police Force they were responding to a house fire in Jannali Way and requested police attendance at the scene,” the statement said.
“A man was located inside the residence deceased, and his death is deemed to be suspicious.”
The West Australian understands the home was never fully engulfed in flames, and that the damage to the property is relatively limited.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam vision of Jannali Way or the surrounding area between midnight and 8am this morning.
Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Jannali Way area around the time of the fire, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online.
